Leon Morris (1914-2006) was a prominent New Testament scholar and theologian. He was born in Australia and studied at the University of Melbourne and then at College of the Bible in Glen Iris. He then went on to study at the University of Cambridge in England.
Morris served as a pastor and Bible college principal before becoming a lecturer at Christchurch, New Zealand. He later served as the warden of Tyndale House, Cambridge, and as vice-principal of Ridley College in Melbourne.
He is best known for his scholarly works on the New Testament, particularly on the Gospel of John and the Pauline epistles. Some of his most famous books include "The Gospel According to John," "The Apostolic Preaching of the Cross," and "The Atonement: Its Meaning and Significance."
Morris was also a leading figure in the evangelical movement and emphasized the importance of biblical authority and the centrality of the cross in Christian theology. He was a respected and influential figure in evangelical circles and his writings continue to be widely read and studied.
